Recording took place at the Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles and Criteria Studios in Miami.

By this point, guitarist Joe Walsh had recently joined the Eagles.

Released as the second single from the album in February 1977, Hotel California quickly climbed the charts.

It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and became a Top 10 hit in several countries, including the UK.

At the 20th Annual Grammy Awards in 1978, it won Record of the Year, cementing its place in music history.

Meanwhile, the Hotel California album went on to sell more than 32 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums ever released.

Today, the song remains a staple of classic rock radio and continues to introduce new generations to the Eagles’ music.
